The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is the world's first and only tilting bridge.
ImageThe £22 million bridge is accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, as its curved structure removes the need for steps.

The bridge often tilts, and tilt times can be found on boards nearby or on Gateshead Council's website.  The opening and closing of the bridge takes four and a half minutes to complete.

You can cross the Millennium Bridge from Baltic Square on Gateshead Quayside, or past the Law Courts on the Newcastle Quayside.
