Back when I launched Live Newcastle in June, I received an invitation from Elaine at The Bakery Art Gallery in North Shields to visit the gallery and attend the launch party of Breadbox Recording, which I blogged about here. It was therefore great to see an email sitting in my inbox last Thursday giving me a small update on how things are going. |

I'm delighted to announce that both competition winners have had their prizes sent, and should be with them soon (depending on Royal Mail strike action, of course!). The winners were S. Young and A. Bates, both from Newcastle. To mark the launch of Live Newcastle, Metroland had kindly offered two Family Passes, for use within the attraction. |

The two winners of Live Newcastle's launch competition for a Metroland Family Pass have now been chosen and contacted. A later blog post will disclose the winners' names, once their prizes have been sent. Thanks must go to Metroland, who were happy to provide a prize for the site's launch. |

Earlier this month, Live Newcastle was featured on the BBC Tyne website. Following the website's launch in June, an article appeared about myself and the site on BBC Tyne on the 10th of July. |

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of Breadbox Recording last night, at The Bakery Art Gallery. Breadbox Recording is billed as a "state-of-the-art" recording studio, and, from what I saw, it certainly lives up to this billing. |

Four days in, and everything's going well. The site's been receiving a steady stream of traffic, despite not yet appearing in the local media. This should improve vastly in July (more on that some other time!). If you run a business in Newcastle, or know of an attraction in the North East, there really is no better time to get yourself listed on Live Newcastle. What's more, it's completely free to be added to the site, so you have absolutely nothing to lose! |

So, Live Newcastle's finally launched! Can I believe it? No, not really. Yesterday was pretty hectic with trying to get everything completed, but I slowly worked through my (rather long) to-do list, eventually managing to tick every last item off. |

Well, there's now less than two days until Live Newcastle launches. I can't believe how long I've been working on the site for, and I'm amazed at how things have come together. I remember coming up with the idea right back in November, and had so many ideas for what to do on the site, and how to make it different from the others out there. |
