 Baltic provides an ever-changing calendar of exhibitions and activities that give a unique and compelling insight into contemporary artistic practice.The Baltic programme ranges from blockbuster exhibitions to innovative new work and projects created by artists working within the local community. Baltic exists to enrich people's lives with a programme that deepens their knowledge, understanding and love of contemporary visual art while increasing and broadening its impact. It is a place where visitors can experience innovative and provocative new art, relax, have fun, learn and discover fresh ideas. Previous exhibitions include British Art Show 6, COBRA: Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam; Spencer Tunick; Sam Taylor-Wood: Still Lives; Antony Gormley: Domain Field, and Brian Eno: Constellations (77 Million Paintings). Baltic also has three food and drinks spaces, serving a range of menus from soup and a sandwich, to gourmet cuisine. On the ground floor, the newly transformed Baltic shop stocks a unique range of books and magazines on contemporary art and culture, as well as exclusive catalogues and publications, books for children, gifts, stationary, artist-designed products and limited edition prints.
